Helpful Tips and Useful Information (To help speed up the review of your application)
Check any software/apps you want to use are approved for use at the University of Leeds. Please read CISC (Contract Information for Software Compliance).
If a collaboration or data processing agreement is required, advice can be sought from the Research & Innovation Service Contracts Team.
Include your research ethics project I.D. number and approving Faculty Research Ethics Committee (FREC or REC) on all public facing supporting documents (for example, recruitment posters, participant information sheet, consent form etc.)
Once a research ethics application is created, the system automatically generates a project I.D. number. This can be located either by selecting ‘Overview’ on the right hand side of your screen when you have opened up the application - ‘Project I.D. (4 digits), or in the main Work Area, next to ‘Project Title’.
Please include the University of Leeds logo on all public facing supporting documents where possible, (for example, recruitment posters, participant information sheet, consent form etc.)
It will help the Reviewers if all your supporting documents are consistent with what is written in your ethics application. Conflicting information can lead to lengthy delays in the review process.
Your Participant Information Sheet (PIS) should be clear, simple, and jargon-free, tailored to your specific participant group, and in a format that they can understand and retain. It may be necessary to make adaptions to meet literacy or accessibility requirements. Please upload different versions for different groups of participants. Please include a hyperlink to the Research Participant Privacy Notice within your PIS.
Answer all the questions in plain English, avoid using overly technical terms and acronyms.
